EpiPen adrenaline Auto-Injector
first line treatment for anaphylaxis
EpiPen Auto-Injectors are intended for immediate self administration in the emergency treatment of anaphylactic reactions.
Anaphylaxis (anna-fill-AXE-is) is a severe and potentially fatal allergic reaction. The whole body is affected; it may start within seconds or minutes, or take a few hours to develop following contact with an allergen.
However there are some things that those affected by anaphylaxis can do to keep away from harm:
- Know what triggers the allergy and avoid these at all times.
- Know how to recognise the symptoms of anaphylaxis.
- Have your treatment(s) available at all times and ensure they are in date.
- Understand how and when to correctly take your medicines.
- Practise with a trainer device.
- Make friends, family and colleagues aware of how to recognise the symptoms of anaphylaxis and how to administer your treatment(s).
